Sherri Shepherd Latest News: "The View" co-host announced her departure from ABC's morning show together with Jenny McCarthy this June. In Monday's pre-recorded episode, Shepherd said her emotional goodbyes to her fans and co-hosts after seven years of stay with the morning chitchat flick. According to ABC News, Shepherd came out dancing with co-host Jenny McCarthy and heard cheers of "Sherri, Sherri, Sherri," from the audience.
"I'm so extremely and profoundly grateful," Shepherd said. "This has been one of the best seven years of my life. I tell people, step out of the fear, because I didn't want to take this job, because I'm not a prosecutor, I don't know anything. ... I have to say my boss, Barbara Walters, pushed me. I cried in my dressing room for three years saying, 'What am I doing on this table?'"
Reportedly, Shepherd talked about the time Goldberg gave her a pep talk while she's crying in her dressing room and said, "If Barbara didn't think you could do this, she wouldn't ask you to be here."
"I'm so grateful for the group of friends and family that I have made and that as supported me," she added. "If you fall, get back up.... I'm so thankful to be here. This is like, I never thought that I would be friends with Arsenio Hall ... taking off my makeup in the mirror with Whoopi ... Jenny McCarthy. Donnie [her fiance] calls me more than ever. This is surreal to me: I am sitting here and thinking 'I can't believe I'm interviewing these people.'"
According to Variety, after her stint with The View, the comedienne will star as the wicked Stepmother in Broadway's musical version of the "Cinderella" by Rodgers and Hammerstein. Shepherd has several new projects that are in line. Deadline reported that Sherri Shepherd is joining the cast of Universal's Ride Along 2 to be directed by Tim Story. Shepherd has signed a role opposite Ice Cube and Kevin Hart. She will also be seen in Chris Rock's upcoming Toronto Film Fest dramedy Top Five.
