Legendary singer Patti LaBelle is set to play one of the newest characters to join the latest installment of American Horror Story, which in the upcoming season is dubbed "Freak Show." She will be appearing in four episodes of the newest season, playing the mother to Gabourney Sidibe's character.

After a stellar previous season, fans are eagerly awaiting what will be up next for America's favorite spine-tingling show. Some American Horror Story Freak Show spoilers were leaked during Comic-con 2014, and here's what we know so far.

This new story' setting is in the 1950s, and it revolves around a Florida freak show. Showrunner Ryan Murphy confirmed this in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "It's set in 1950. If you look historically [at] what happened in the year 1950 - there's some more clues in that year. It's a period piece."

Aside from the original cast members which include Gabourney Sidibe, Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, and Sarah Paulson, we have new faces joining the roster. The Shield's Michael Chiklis will be on board, as well as All My Children's Finn Wittrock.

Showrunner Ryan Murphy didn't shy away from giving more American Horror Story Freak Show spoilers during the interview with EW. According to him, this time around, Jessica Lange will be playing a German ex-pat, and the owner and showrunner of the last standing freak show in the United States.

"We try and do the opposite of what we've done before," Murphy said in the interview. "Jessica Lange has already started practicing her German accent, so I'm very excited!"

The rest of the cast will all be playing members of the freak show run by German Jessica Lange. They will be "performers who Lange has rescued," according to Entertainment Weekly.

It has also been reported that How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris might be appearing in this upcoming season.
