The Samsung Galaxy Alpha finally unveils, putting to rest rumors on the Samsung Galaxy F and the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime.
The Samsung Galaxy Alpha's price (tentative) averages at 410 Euros, subject to change on the official September release. Apple's iPhone 6 and the LG G3 finally has a confirmed competitor in the next wave of smartphones
Samsung's next flagship device was announced and unveiled yesterday, amidst rumors that it was going to be released for retail; the Samsung Galaxy Alpha release date is still pegged for September, to compete with the iPhone 6.
One of the more noticeable features of the device is Samsung's departure from the usual plastic styling, shifting to a build which is arguably more chic: metallic. It's an impressive 7mm thick and lighter, with a squared shape compared to previous Galaxy handsets, even the S5.
Samsung confirms the new phone comes in chic colors upon release: in black, white, frosted gold, silver or blue. Match the sleek new design with Samsung Galaxy Alpha's price and people might consider shifting from the Apple alternative.
The Samsung Galaxy Alpha is a slight downgrade from the Samsung Galaxy S5, though. Both have the same 4.7-inch AMOLED display, but the Alpha offers 720p HD compared to the S5's 1080p HD. The compact build of the Alpha compensates with a decent 12-megapixel camera, as well as a neat fingerprint scanner.
Considering the revamped specs, the Samsung Galaxy Alpha looks like it was built with the stylish crowd in mind. JK Shin of Samsung Electronics comments:
"The Galaxy Alpha was built and designed based on the specific desires of the consumer market. With an entirely new appearance, the Galaxy Alpha focuses on both beauty and functionality combining a stunning metal frame and slim, light weight design with the same powerful hardware and features users expect from a flagship Galaxy mobile device."
The verdict on the Samsung Galaxy Alpha vs Samsung Galaxy S5 is still up in the air, but it's likely those who already own the latter will hesitate a switch, considering the slight downgrade (yahoo.com).
