A Whitney Houston tribute spread online over the weekend in celebration of the late singer's 51st birthday, said a report from Idolator.
Family and former colleagues did their respective Whitney Houston tribute posts in social media starting last August 9, and updates were also released regarding the production of the diva's controversial biopic.
Among the first to post a Whitney Houston tribute was the superstar's daughter with Bobby Brown, Bobbi Kristina. A picture of a birthday cake was posted by Bobbi Kristina on her Twitter page, with the caption: "#HappyBirthdaymommy ! #HappyBirthdayWhitney ! #AllAugustAllWhitney #iloveyou ! @nickdgordon @mwhitaker10 #Family"
US Weekend also added that Bobbi Kristina is looking at having a month-long Whitney Houston tribute, posting: "GoodmorningAll ! Having a wonderful #AllAugustAllWhitney #WhitneyBirthdayWeekend ! I love you my lady :) #WhitneyWeekend @nickdgordon"
Another Whitney Houston tribute post came from David Foster, the songwriter behind the late diva's Grammy-nominated "I Have Nothing" song from the movie "The Bodyguard".
Pop diva Beyonce's own Whitney Houston tribute was posted on her official site. The singer confessed how inspired she was by Whitney Houston's 1991 Super Bowl XXV performance of "The Star Spangled Banner."
The Idolator report said Beyonce had stated shortly after Whitney Houston died in 2012: "I, like every singer, always wanted to be just like her... She is our queen and she opened doors and provided a blueprint for all of us."
Meanwhile, the production for Lifetime's Whitney Houston biopic is still ongoing. A report from Huffington Post said the biopic will be entitled "I Will Always Love You: The Whitney Houston Story", with 31-year-old actress Yaya DaCosta portraying the lead role as the late diva.
Yaya DaCosta is said to have full support from fans of Whitney Houston. The model turned actress was discovered from cycle 3 of "America's Next Top Model", hosted and produced by Tyra Banks.
"She is killing it! She has been in academy-nominated movies, she has been in scenes with Oprah in 'The Butler,' and now she was chosen to play Whitney Houston in a biopic. So this is insane and huge for me," Tyra Banks said about Yaya DaCosta at a recent episode of "Watch What Happens Live!".
"Yaya, I am super proud of you. You won the acting challenge on 'America's Next Top Model' back in the day so we knew that there was something special," Tyra Banks added.
