Fans should stop hoping they'd see Dakota Fanning on social media; the "Twilight" star is shunning social sites to maintain a very private life.

The animosity between Dakota Fanning and social media sites Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and what have you is understandable, considering she practically grew up in the glare of the limelight.

Dakota is 20 years old, but is apparently oblivious to the trends of the current generation (most of these, anyway). While she is very accommodating when it comes to red carpet interviews and social gatherings, she prefers to keep many aspects of her life private.

Keeping things to herself, she'd rather not know the details of other people's lives as well. Her aversion to eavesdropping explains why she doesn't have social media accounts. Fans can only hope to see Dakota Fanning on Twitter or Instagram.

Dakota comments on Lucky magazine: "It's a hole that I just don't want to dive into," apparently referring to the rabbit hole in "Through the Looking Glass."

Dakota Fanning on social media won't happen anytime soon, and it probably won't. "I don't want to know all these things about people. It's like the mystery of life has been removed!"

Even if she'd rather not drink from the well of online fame, her acting career is the exact opposite. Dakota's first and biggest break was acting with Sean Penn in 2001's "I Am Sam," which was followed by public and critical acclaim.

"There's an inner happiness in me, no matter where I am, when I'm working. I've never questioned being an actor. I think there's more to that than that it's all that I know. Acting is all I know, but it's also all I really want to know. If at the end of the day there's no other job you would rather do, you're in the right place."

Details on her romantic relationship is also hers to keep, it seems. Fans would be hard-pressed to see model boyfriend Jamie Strachan and Dakota Fanning on social media, with the pap and the press their only hope (yahoo.com).
