The LA Lakers full schedule for the 2014-2015 season was officially released, and it shows former teammates battling it out on Christmas Day. Kobe Bryant will try to lead his team past Pau Gasol and Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls on the holiday.
According to the LA Lakers news, the full schedule for the 2014-2015 season will open on October 28 when the franchise will play against the Houston Rockets, led by former its center Dwight Howard and James Harden, according to James McMenamin of ESPN.
If all goes well, this would also be the first time that Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard will face each other since the Black Mamba was sidelined for most of last year due to injury.
"Their annual Christmas Day showcase will be against the Chicago Bulls, bringing Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol together for the holidays in Chicago. Gasol's first return to Los Angeles against the Lakers is Jan. 25," the SilverScreenAndRoll blog said.
Pau Gasol, who won two rings with Kobe Bryant, signed with the Chicago Bulls via free agency to provide championship leadership to a young team led by Derrick Rose. The MVP point guard is set to make his return following a frustrating comeback last year when he reinjured himself.
The LA Lakers full schedule for the 2014-2015 season will involve 16 back-to-back games, which is a welcome Lakers news following the 19 back-to-backs last season. This year Grammy awards, when the long road trip of the purple and gold begins, will be a lighter schedule as there are only four games on the agenda.
During this trip, the Lakers will play against the Utah Jazz, Phoenix Suns, New Orleans Pelicans and the defending champions, San Antonio Spurs. Also none of them are back-to-back, which would help an aging Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash.
The LA Lakers will get first crack at Lebron James, and possibly Kevin Love, as they play the Cleveland Cavaliers on January 15 at the Staples Center.
