Daniel Cormier's next fight postponement has brought sheer disappoinment to "DC". The current light heavyweight title contender is also refusing to undergo surgery on his injured knee despite the added time off from fighting.

Daniel Cormier's next fight against Jon "Bones" Jones was originally slated for September 27th at UFC 178 at the Las Vegas fight mecca at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. However, the bout was pulled off from the card due to an injury sustained by "Bones" during training camp.

Now, Daniel Cormier's next fight has been moved to UFC 182 on January 3rd, 2015, still at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

"DC" spoke exclusively to Charissa Thompson on FOX Sports Live to publicly air out his sentiments regarding the recent turn of events, and what he intends to do during his forced time off from competition.

"Very, very disappointed," Cormier lamented. "It was something I looked forward to for a long time, even though I was a little behind because I took the fight on short notice."

"I felt like I was getting prepared," he added. "I had some good partners come in and a lot of people reaching out saying they would help me try to accomplish this goal."

Daniel Cormier trains with San Jose, California's American Kickboxing Academy (AKA), alongside UFC lightweight contender Josh Thomson, and heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, among others.

During his training camp in preparation for his fight against veteran and former PRIDE FC and Strikeforce champion Dan Henderson, "DC" sustained a knee injury that warranted surgery.

Now his upcoming fight has been called off, Daniel Cormier has five months of inactivity. But despite the long lay-off, the current light heavyweight number one contender still refuses to undergo the said medical treatment.

"I'm not gonna have any surgery," Cormier said. "I don't really like surgery anyways, so I've made the decision not to do it even before I got the fight."

"But now, I'm just gonna take a step back from the training, get my body in shape and have a three-month camp as I normally would for a title fight," he added.
