There are downsides to playing a very popular character in Hollywood, especially if you have to play that character in a trilogy. Getting typecast in a particular role type can mean the death of any actor's career. That's why we're not surprised that 50 Shade of Grey Actor Jamie Dornan has been lining up his next film projects as quick as he can. Strike while the iron is hot so they say.
According to The Daily Mail, Jamie might next be seen as one of the most popular fictional kings in literature. Apparently, director Guy Ritchie (Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows) desperately wants to have the 50 Shades of Grey Actor Jamie Dornan to play King Arthur in his upcoming film King Arthur.
The movie, which is set to be released on 2016, and it is planned to be a trilogy. British director Ritchie will be helming the film, with Joby Harold penning the script. Akiva Goldsman and Tory Tunnell will be producing. While no concrete plot or cast has been confirmed, we do know that this will be a reimagining of the King Arthur tale.
According to sources, Dornan is very eager to play King Arthur as well. Hello magazine quotes their source saying, "Jamie is keen to take on other roles and prove that he's an adaptable actor," the source added. "He fears the huge Fifty Shades franchise will be all he's associated with."
That's if Universal Pictures, which is producing 50 Shades of Grey will allow the actor to work on the King Arthur films while on contract with them for Grey. So we'll have to see if Dornan will be playing a sexy king of Camelot anytime soon.
For sure the 50 Shades of Grey actor will be playing a UN commander Pat Quinlan, who finds himself trapped in the Democratic Republic of Congo. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is a geo-political thriller based on the siege of 150 Irish UN military personnel led by Quinlan in the Congo. This took place after pro-Western leader deposed leader Patrice Lumumba by killing him.
