Much controversy and speculation have surrounded the upcoming movie based on two of the most beloved and popular superheroes of all time. Batman v Superman, directed by Zac Snyder has been under the intense gaze of ardent fanboys, especially for his casting choices.
Most recently the critics are picking on Wonder Woman Gal Gadot. We remember Gal of course as part of the Fast & Furious franchise before being cast as Wonder Woman in this high profile movie.
But most of the casting outcry has centered on the actor to be playing Batman. Fans are not too crazy that Ben Affleck has not taken the role of Gotham's hero. Especially since they don't see him as the superhero type at all, and the memory of the actor's sloppy turn as Daredevil is still fresh in their minds.
Now the 41-year-old actor is firing back at the fans who have criticized his casting as Batman. The actor has been on the promotional rounds lately for his new David Fincher movie Gone Girl, and Entertainment Weekly seized the chance to corner the actor for some pressing Batman v Superman questions.
"It's a process that I'll probably have better perspective on when I'm done," Affleck shares to the magazine. "Batman's obviously got a set of expectations that are tough. So I spent a lot of time working out."
He adds, "Everyone's entitled to their opinion. I wouldn't have taken the part if I didn't trust my instincts in terms of the filmmaking. I think Chris Terrio wrote a terrific script. Zack's a great visual director. And there's an interesting take. I wouldn't have done it if I didn't think I could do it. I have the benefit of a lot of understanding. But also, everyone is entitled to their opinion. That's a big part of this international sport."
