Fans who think Ben Affleck's Batman is based on thin air: the "Daredevil" star insists he'll do justice to the Bat Suit.
Ben Affleck Batman is based on the character's sulkier side, if that were possible. As soon as fans learned he was confirmed for the cowl, though, the consensus was rather unpleasant.
Affleck seems unfazed with the criticism. He has a history of rolling with the punches; he was criticized for his lackluster portrayal of one of Marvel's beloved heroes, Daredevil.
He's enjoyed success helming and starring in critically-acclaimed movies, including "Good Will Hunting" (with Matt Damon) and "Argo." Affleck comments he's already prepared for the backlash even before he was confirmed to be the next Bruce Wayne.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly: "I think Chris Terrio wrote a terrific script. Zack's a great visual director. And there's an interesting take. I wouldn't have done it if I didn't think I could do it. I have the benefit of a lot of that understanding. But also, everyone is entitled to their opinion. That's a big part of this international sport."
On opinions as to Ben Affleck's Batman is based on hype, the actor takes it in stride: "I wouldn't have taken the part if I didn't trust my instincts in terms of the filmmaking."
"I can tell you that every time I do a role, it's the responsibility of an actor to get their physical self as close to the role as possible. And Batman's obviously got a set of expectations that are tough. So I spent a lot of time working out."
Apart from a few official (and notorious) photos of Affleck wearing the Bat suit, a video clip or teaser of the actor in character has yet to be released. "Batman vs Superman" releases in theaters March 15, 2016. Ben Affleck's Batman is based on a Bruce Wayne caught in a crossover of heroes, rumored as the beginning of the Justice League and the DC Cinematic Universe.
