France winger Franck Ribéry has made his announcement to retire from international football. He has been with the France National Team since 2006 and has made 81 appearances ever since. According to him "I want to focus on my family and concentrate on my work at Bayern Munich and make way in the national team for the many young and exciting players. One has to know when to stop. Have experienced so much and now is the time for others to come forward. You could see at the World Cup that we should have no concerns about France's future"
Ribery was not able to join his national team in the recent World Cup as he had a back injury even though there were intense treatments being made. His decision to retire fro m international football would have to mean that he won't be able to join the team in the 2016 European Championships which will be held in France.
According to Ribery "There were highs and lows but now is the time to start a new chapter in my life."
But Ribery is not the only French player who retired from international football. France National Team player Samir Nasri has announced his retirement from International Football. The Manchester City midfielder was not able to join the team last World Cup in Brazil as decided by Coach Didier Deschamps. Nasri dropped hints of his plans to retire last week.
Nasri has been with the National Team for seven years and since then he had won 41 caps, scoring five goals. He was also excluded from the National Team last 2010 where his girlfriend reigned her tirade over at Twitter dissing Deschamp and the France Team.
Nasri had an interview with British newspaper The Guardian where he said "I will only be 29 in 2016 for the European Championship, but the French national team doesn't make me happy."
He continued "Every time I go there, there is just more trouble. I face accusations about me and my family suffers from it and I don't want to make them suffer, so it's better to stop it and focus on my club career."
