Actor Robin Williams Death More Than Depression, Addiction, Parkinson's: Susan Scheider revealed that Robin Williams had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in the latest explanation to a tragic story of a man that won the hearts of his fans with his wit; he will be remembered as someone who tried to make everyone smile.

Schneider said in a statement on Time, “Robin’s sobriety was intact and he was brave as he struggled with his own battles of depression, anxiety as well as early stages of Parkinson’s Disease, which he was not yet ready to share publicly.” Robin’s Williams since 2011, Susan seems sure that he was of sound mind when he first tried to cut his wrist and then hung himself using his belt.

There were no notes left behind for his loving family. Suicide notes are usually a means for the victim to convey his story behind the suicide attempt. So what was Robin hiding about his story? Michael J. Fox says there’s a dark secret behind Robin’s suicide. Fox also suffers from Parkinson’s. But the connection between Parkinson’s and suicide is a tenuous comparison. A 2001 paper from the Serbian School of Medicine In Serbia found that suicide among those with Parkinson’s was lower than those found in the general population.

There were financial problems after his heart surgery, and he had given away huge sums to his last two wives. With troubles brewing in his marriage to Susan, there are indications that he did not want to go through another divorce settlement. He may have thought it would be better to end everything than go through that again. Believed to have bipolar depression, the patient swings from a manic euphoric stage to a more depressing lower mood: Robin’s roles in ‘Mork and Mindy’ with Pamela Dawson, and Dead Poets Society had strong elements reflective of his own person life, dealing with highs and lows, sometimes euphoric and at other times seemingly sad.

It is also apparent that Susan was sleeping in a room adjacent to that of Williams. However, she allegedly went shopping at 10:30am and didn’t check up on her husband or say goodbye to him, who was presumably dead by 10:30 pm. It was Williams’ secretary who found him hanging when she came in for work in the morning.

There is adequate evidence to suggest that Robin Williams was receiving no care, or that he was keeping to himself intentionally – both frightening thoughts for how we are taking care of patients with depression or anxiety. It is not clear if addiction to pot or alcohol was a problem for Williams at the time.

“Mental illness compromises the functioning of both the will and the intellect. It can warp the intellect until right judgment is no longer possible, and damages the will so that choosing the proper action is no longer a simple matter,” writes Michael Lichens of Patheos.
