The horror series "The Purge" sparked a " Louisville Purge" hoax threat!
"The Purge", is a show which instigated people to lawfully commit crimes, including murder, for 12 hours. The show seemed to have ignited a hoax threat on Twitter, according to E! Online. This trend produced the "Louisville Purge in a specific timeline. The social media message produced fears around Louivile, which pushed a call for a police action.
A teen told reporters of NBC's Louisville NBC TV affiliate, WAVE 3:
"I didn't think it would really get that serious until it actually did,"
"Then I started feeling really bad about it because people's mamma's talkin' bout movin' to Indiana for the night and stuff. It was wrong for me to do that. I apologize to everybody in Louisville. I love my city. It's where I was born and raised. I love my city and don't really wanna harm my city. I just thought it would be funny."
Louisville police was called by numerous members of the city's population after the "Louisville Purge" hoax threat messages were released, to investigate, as reported by WAVE 3 affiliate.
E! Online further reported high school news website, "The Manual Red Eye" talked to the teen who tweeted the "Louisville Purge" hoax threat:
"I told them I was just joking around,"
"I was sitting in my house and watching 'The Purge,' and I thought of the tweet and picture that started it. But I didn't think it'd get that big from there. I didn't mean any harm by this at all. I love my city."
