"Scandal" season 4 will be premiering in a month. Apart from starting in a different location and time, the new season will boast of more things new.
New season = new faces. It has been confirmed that rumored pregnant Portia de Rossi will be joining the cast next season, although no official confirmation has been made as to what role she will be playing.
De Rossi has been made famous by her roles in "Ally McBeal" and "Arrested Development."
Aside from de Rossi, rumor has it that another female character will be added into the mix next season. "Friends" star Lisa Kudrow will reportedly have a permanent role in the series, as she has been on the show for several episodes in season 3. No further details have been shared about the speculation.
And with Colombus Short not returning next season, reports of a new "African-American" character coming to the show has surfaced. The character is said to be a lawyer in his 30s to 50s.
Meanwhile, Josh Randall and Mary McCormack will also be joining the cast in season 4, but for only one episode. The two actors who are known for their own TV show roles, will be playing a couple in the said episode.
McCormack is known her roles on "In Plain Sight" and NBC's "The West Wing." Randall on the other hand, has had quite a handful of memorable roles on "Ed," and "Greek" respectively.
Show creator Shonda Rimes in her interview with The Hollywood Reporter shared that the upcoming season will feature more of Olivia, and the previous seasons' case of the week stories.
"In season one and season two, Kerry is in almost every scene, and that's not possible in season three. So it just necessitated a different mode of storytelling, and we're very excited to get back to Olivia-centric storytelling," she said.
"Scandal" season 4 is set to premiere on September 25, 2014 on ABC.
