'Sherlock' Season 4 spoilers hint at a Moriarty comeback, if the third season's finale wasn't clue enough. Excitement has been building up for the series' next season as well as the preceding Christmas special ever since creator Scott Moffat announced the news to the shows' fans.
Last season, various theories on how Sherlock survived his fall came up during the first episode. One of them was a possible romance between the genius detective and his nemesis. This, of course, sent fans that 'ship' both actors to each other in to a frenzy. It created an upshot of fan fiction stories being created about the pair's secret romance
Andrew Scott, who plays Moriarty, told gay lifestyle magazine 'Attitude' (out on August 20) that he finds these fan-created, often erotic stories quite entertaining.
"Oh my god, it's the drawings and the photos!" the actor, who's also openly gay, exclaimed. It's mostly women doing it. You're put with quite an array of different people."
He went on to jokingly speculate, "I think it's done by librarians."
Explicit and shocking fan fiction aside, Scott thinks that his character's relationship with Sherlock Holmes is very 'interesting.'
"Well, they are absolutely obsessed with each other," the 37-year-old actor told the magazine. "There has to be a line. In the words of Erasure, I love to hate you."
So how will the two arch enemies face each other in 'Sherlock' season 4? Executive producers Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss previously teased that they already know what to do with the supposedly-dead baddie.
Moffat said, "We've had what we're going to do with Moriarty in place from before the second season. Exactly what we're going to do. I remember talking it through with Andrew Scott, who plays Moriarty. Wait and see what's going to happen."
Mark Gatiss also joked about asking Thor's Tom Hiddleston to play the third Holmes brother in the upcoming season. Benedict Cumberbatch, Mark Gatiss and Tom Hiddleston would make an impressive trio.
Due to Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman's very busy movie schedule for the year, 'Sherlock' season 4 won't start filming until 2015. It will return to BBC for a Christmas special before the usual three episodes air in 2016.
