If there’s one thing that’s certain about the ongoing “Mrs. Doubtfire” sequel, it has to be the fact that no one else can play the role better than Robin Williams. Now that the famous comedian/actor is gone, it is somehow impossible to find another person who can fill in his shoes for the role. As a matter of fact, many don’t approve of someone filling in for the departed actor’s famous character.

The sequel for “Mrs. Doubtfire” has been in talks for many years since it was released in 1993. The movie is that close to being filmed since the script was already ready in 2001. However, Williams doesn’t seemed to be satisfied with the storyline, and so he set the project for a 2007 release.

According to rumors, the story was supposed to be centered around Mrs. Doubtfire moving close to his daughter’s college. Williams again turned down the project and finally confirmed that the project was dead in the water.

The proposed movie has remained silent for quite a while until it was picked up again in 2013. According to some of the previous reports, “Mrs. Doubtfire 2” got a new script written by David Berenbaum, and was already in the production phase. It was also reported that the movie got Williams back with the help of Chris Columbus.

Unfortunately, Contactmusic claims that there isn’t going to be a sequel for “Mrs. Doubtfire” anymore. Now that the lead actor is gone, director Chris Columbus stated that “[Williams'] performances were unlike anything any of us had ever seen, they came from some spiritual and otherworldly place.” The project has now been “put on hold indefinitely.”

With the decision not to continue with the project, this should be a big disappointment to the fans who have long waited for Mrs. Doubtfire to have a sequel. Nevertheless, Mrs. Doubtfire will be as memorable and entertaining for a classic film in the years to come.
