Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson who recently made waves as the half-god-half-human hero "Hercules" has confirmed in the latest "Shazam" movie news that he will play a key role in the film. The only question left unanswered is: Will he be the good guy or the bad guy?
"The Rock" has had it with dropping hints and teasing his fans. The cat is officially out of the bag now. New York Times reported the hunky actor's admission of his role in the "Shazam" movie news. However, he has not yet decided on whose costume he would want his hunky bod to fill in: Shazam's or Black Adam's?
New York Times relayed that the actor admitted to the Associated Press during the promotion of "Hercules" that he personally favors the villain Black Adam, who was once a slave before becoming protector of a middle eastern community in the comic story continuation.
The 42-year-old actor added that he would dedicate himself totally to his new role. Actually, he had not really denied the rumors of his signing up for the DC movie version of "Shazam" movie. Instead, he taunted fans by dropping hints that left them guessing.
But even if Dwayne Johnson had openly declared his preference for Black Adam, he still could not decide which character he wanted to play. Also, it does nothing to confirm if Warner Bros. would reward him the villain's role.
Superhero Hype surmised that the film outfit may not be so keen on casting "The Rock" as the antagonist. They see "Shazam" movie as a latent candidate for a blockbuster hit that the whole family can enjoy.
Regarding the release date of the movie, there were "Shazam" movie news reports circulating two months ago about its probable opening on 2016.There are speculations that the movie will open in the same year as "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice." DC has confirmed that there is a movie set for an August 2016 release. However, they have not confirmed whether it is "Shazam" or not.
