With fans eagerly awaiting the Showtime series follow up, creator John Logan promises to 'bring it' for 'Penny Dreadful' season 2 next year.
The cast of the gothic show met up with fans at the San Diego comic con last month and they were able to share some spoilers as well as other details for the upcoming season. Enthusiastic fans declared their trust in the creator, saying that he seems to know "what he's doing."
Another fan challenged the producer to "Bring it!"
When asked how different the next season will be, the showrunner confirmed that it will be hugely different than the first.
"The cosmology, the theology of the show gets much larger- they're thrown into a much more threatening supernatural world," Logan answered.
In season one, Logan not only introduced the characters to viewers but he also wanted to build "a family and bring them together." The second season will be more to the effect of building on that family's relationship and making it stronger.
Meanwhile, Reeve Carney recently received his script for 'Penny Dreadful' season 2 and the actor is more than a little impressed with John Logan's work.
Carney, who plays Dorian Gray, tweeted, "Just read the first episode of Season 2 of @Show_Penny... My goodness... Boy, am I excited...!!! :) #johnloganrules!!"
He previously revealed to Enstars that his character will be meeting a new love interest. After being left heartbroken by Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) in the first season, Dorian will be forced to reflect on his (long) life.
"There's an inherent sadness that comes with losing everyone you've ever lost," Variety reports Carney as saying. "The portrait bears the burden of his sins, but it certainly crosses his mind."
Logan also plans to finally reveal Dorian's portrait soon. According to Variety, he was supposed to show it in last season's finale but decided against it for a more impactful exposure in later episodes.
