"Pirates of the Caribbean 5" is the 5th installment to the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise that fans have long been waiting for. "Dead Men Tell No Tales" is currently looking to start its filming stages in Australia by early 2015. According to online reports, its official release date will be sometime in 2017.
At present, Walt Disney Studios is still applying to the Government of Australia for one of their incentive rates for production. A spokesperson for the Ministry of the Arts informed Inside Film Australia, "The Government is currently in discussions with Disney on possible productions it may wish to film in Australia. These discussions are commercial in confidence."
Disney is requesting for a 30% incentive and the Media, Entertainment, and Arts Alliance seems to support this number. The director of the MEAA, Mall Tulloch, wrote a letter to the Government. He wrote, "The strong Australian dollar and increased competition between international jurisdictions has led to some of the lowest offshore production on record."
Of course, Jack Sparrow will still be played by the amazingly handsome Johnny Depp. He will continue to reprise his role together with Jack Davenport, Keith Richards, and Geoffrey Rush. The story of the "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" will be focused on Sparrow's search for the infamous Trident, which the ghostly Captain Brand also seems to be after. Brand is apparently looking for this Trident so that he could begin his revenge on Sparrow.
Brand is described as a "former member of the British military now sided with Barbossa on a revenge mission."
As always, Sparrow is going to be paired with a new female. To date, there is still no confirmation as to precisely who Johnny Depp's new leading lady in the "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" will be, but rumor has it that it is going to be Rebecca Hall from "Iron Man 3" and "Transcendence."
