HTC One E8 is reportedly surpassing the low sales of HTC One M8, and we can all give credits to the fact that it is way cheaper than the flagship phone while offering the same specs (i.e., display size, storage, processors, camera, etc.) The only thing is it is made of plastic and not metal, perhaps the Android version of the iPhone 5c.

Standing pretty well at the mid-tier category, here's what you need to know about this device:

Design and display

If you want a device that offers a perfect grip then E8's ergonomically enhanced design might just score an A+. It is vertically curved with tapered signs, edge-to-edge display, and lightweight as well specifically measuring 5.11 oz (145 g) - thanks to its polycarbonate shell. It comes in glossy Polar White, glossy red aka Electric Crimson, matte Maldives Blue, and matte Misty gray. As of now, the phone is only available in China, India, and Russia and the availability of colors may vary depending on the country.

It may be a plastic phone but its display is quite competitive as well. It sports a 5-inch Super LCD 3 capacitive touchscreen rendering a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels with a density of 441 ppi. The screen is also scratch-resistant with light and proximity sensor. These features are almost precisely the same with its metal-clad brother HTC One M8.

Hardware

What's inside the shell is also close to other flagship smartphones. Powered by Snapdragon 801 quad-core CPU with 2GB of RAM, the phone has a built-in storage of 16 GB and a microSD slot that can hold up to 128 GB card.

Software and OS

E8 runs Android 4.4 Kitkat, alongside the HTC Sense 6 UI, giving mobile users a smooth and fast navigating experience. The Motion Launch shortcut controls is of course present in this smartphone allowing users to answer incoming calls, launch the camera, wake up the phone, and make a quick voice call through simple gestures.

Aside from the gesture controls, there's a wide range of colored themes to personalize your phone; HTC Sense 6 seems to keep up with a more modern look. it also features the BlinkFeed launcher which adds an optional scrolling pane to give you easy access to app content and social media updates via home screen.

Camera

Crisp and clear images can be captured with its 13 MP rear-facing camera and 5 MP front-facing camera. It also has a Built-in Touch UP software that automatically enhances skin tone and facial details with display-side countdown timer making it an ideal selfie phone.

Battery

Cheap yet powerful - that could be the idea behind this phone as it carries a 2600 mAh battery that can last 27 hours of talk time (3G) and 21 days of stand-by time.

Features

One of the most glorified features of HTC is the BoomSound front stereo speaker that gives that redefined music and conversation experience.

Price

The phone is reportedly carrying a price tag of $580 in India.
