Mythbusters: Emmy-Nominated Series Plans For A ‘New Direction,’ Loses 3 Hosts! Trio Feels ‘Sad’ But Excited For The ‘Next Adventure’

Discovery Channel's five-time Emmy-nominated series about scientifically proving a myth's truth recently lost three of its stars.

Original hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman announced during the latest episode that Grant Imahara, Kari Byron, and Tory Belleci are leaving 'Mythbusters' after ten years on the series. They will bring the show back to its "origins" with just the two of them hosting the show.

The management reportedly made the decision to let the trio go because the 'Mythbusters' will be taking on a new direction. Byron and Belleci joined the show in 2004 and Imahara completed the trio in 2005.

Despite the sad news, there seems to be no bad blood between the three fan-favorites and Discovery Channel.

Byron thanked the show in a series of Tweets, saying "Thank you to all the fans who have supported us. The show is taking a new direction. It was an amazing run."

He added, "I learned so much about myself and the world. I love you all @MythBusters. I am sad for an ending but there will be exciting new adventures for us."

Belleci also took to Twitter to express his gratitude for 'Mythbusters' and its fans.

"It's been an amazing ride for 10 years!" the former host tweeted, "We couldn't have done it without you guys. You're the best fans anyone could wish for. Thank you."

Imahara, too, echoed Byron's sentiment thanking Discovery Channel show for allowing them to "teach science in a whole new way."

He added, "Also, explosions. Now, on to the next adventure!"

The 'Mythbusters' official Twitter page, in turn, honoured the former stars of the show through a heartfelt tweet.

"We want to thank @KariByron @GrantImahara @ToryBelleci for their tireless work, and wish them all the best," the message read.

According to Fox News, a senior publicist for the Discovery acknowledged the trio's hard work on the show through an email.

"From explosions to car crashes to even more explosions, this trio has helped shape 'MythBusters' into the Emmy-nominated series it is today," the email said. "Everyone at Discovery wants to thank them for their tireless work busting almost 1000 myths, and we wish them all the best on their future endeavours."

Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman will stay on as hosts for the show's upcoming season.
