Jim Caviezel recently opened up on his role in the film "When the Game Stands Tall."
The actor, who is very passionate about his character confirmed that he didn't have a hard time portraying the role of legendary high school football coach Bob Ladouceur, according to the Toronto Sun.
"It wasn't hard to do when you listen to what he says to his team. He said to me once, 'Jim, this may sound odd to you but the reason we win is that what beats at the heart of our neighborhood at De La Salle is love. They love each other and they are not afraid to say it and embrace each other as a sign of that affection," he said.
"When the Game Stands Tall" chronicles the life of the famous man who coaches at the De La Salle High School Spartans in Concord, California.
Ladouceur's approach to coaching may be different from that of others because the man believes in the importance of embracing each other and being affectionate with one another, the same publication noted.
"The players testify to one another at team meetings - then must put those words into action during a game," Caviezel revealed.
The "Passion of the Christ" star also shared to Breitbart News how the coach did not necessarily focus on winning games all the time.
"He never focused on winning. It's only through this process that real growth and change can occur... you have to rip off that emotional scarring. No one likes that... certainly the outcome is so much more positive."
When asked why he thinks very few coaches employ that kind of coaching system, Caviezel was firm in saying that majority of coaches are still more focused on their records and winning and not team spirit.
"In order for this world to be a better place, people have to make great sacrifices. I have a responsibility to do what's right playing figures like this," he said.
