The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards 2014 is all set for this coming Monday. A report from CNN has listed some of the things we could expect from this year's show, while most TV fanatics have placed their bets on frontrunners such as "Game Of Thrones", "Breaking Bad", and "True Detective".
An obvious frontrunner is HBO's epic saga "Game of Thrones", which leads the Primetime Emmy Awards 2014 nominees list with a total of 19 bids.
Giving stiff competition this year is HBO crime series "True Detective", which won four awards at the August 16 Creative Arts Emmys, held separately from the main show on Monday.
While recently concluded "Breaking Bad" only won one Creative Arts Emmy award for editing, the show's unanimous support from fanatics gives it an edge over other nominees. The CNN report said handicappers at Goldderby.com have formed a solid fan base backing up "Breaking Bad" for the Emmy Awards 2014.
A lot of buzz has also been made over the nominees of Emmy Awards 2014's comedy categories. "Modern Family" could possibly be handing over their win from last year to Emmy first-timer "Orange Is The New Black", which has earned good reviews after airing for just a little over a year. "Big Bang Theory" is also a frontrunner for the comedy awards with their growing fanbase, as evidenced by recent news surrounding the huge talent fees of the show's lead actors.
Fans of reality shows are also looking forward to the Emmy Awards 2014. After winning nine out of 10 years in the reality completion category, "The Amazing Race" could possibly give up their winning streak to "The Voice", which snatched the title last year.
Aside from the awards to be given out, a lot of fans are looking forward to the show itself, which is known for being more and more extravagant every year.
The award giving body will reportedly be paying a tribute during the "In Memoriam" portion of the show to recently deceased actor Robin Williams. The comedian passed away last August 11 after committing suicide.
The Primetime Emmy Awards 2014 will be hosted by "Saturday Night Live" alum Seth Meyers . Since hosting reviews are so easily given by critics after every award show, the "Late Night" host has admitted that he is nervous.
"I think it would be weird if there were no nerves," Seth Meyers said. "It's a big undertaking and you want to make sure you treat it with the proper respect, and I think nerves constantly remind you to do that."
