Which smartphone is the better purchase? We pit the HTC Desire 700 against the Motorola Moto G to see which device is the ideal choice for consumers.

For the design and display, Motorola Moto G has a 4.5i nches IPS LCD display that renders a resolution of 720x1280pixels and 326ppi. The screen sports vivid colors and has a proximity sensor and a light sensor, being protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Its dimensions are 129.9×65.9×11.6 mm and it weighs 143 grams.

The HTC Deisire 700 has a bigger display, which measures 5 inches, but it has a slower resolution of 540x960pixels and the pixel density of 220ppi. The exterior of this smartphone is elongated, but the phone feels comfortable to hold in one hand. It dimensions are 145.5x72x10.3 mm and it’s only 6 grams heavier than its opponent.

In terms of hardware and OS, the Mototola Moto G has a modest processor quad-core of 1.2GHz Cortex-A7 CPU, which is coupled with a Qualcomm MSM8226 Snapdragon 400 chipset and an Adreno 305 GPU. The disadvantage of this smartphone is its unexpandable internal storage of 8 or 16GB. Aside from that, it has 1GB of RAM and it runs on the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS, which is upgradable to the 4.4.4 (KitKat) version, plus it supports 4G connectivity.

The HTC Desire 700 on the other hand has the same quad-core 1.2GHz Cortex-A7 processor, but it’s based on the Spreadtrum Shark chipset and it’s coupled with a Mali-400 GPU. It has a built in storage of 8GB, but it can be expanded up to 64GB. This smartphone runs on an older version of Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with only 1GB of RAM.

For the camera and battery specs, the Motorola Moto G's rear camera isn’t very advance with its resolution of 5MP and it has features such as 2592х1944pixels, autofocus, LED flash, face detection, HDR, geo tagging, touch focus, panorama + video recording capabilities of 720p@30fps. The other camera is at 1.3MP

The rear camera of the HTC Desire 700 is of 8MP, being able to capture videos at 1080p. Its other features inlcude: 3264x2448pixels, autofocus, LED flash, simultaneous HD video & image recording, face detection, HDR etc. The camera on the front is 2.1MP.

The battery on the Moto G is non-removable and has a capacity of 2070mAh, which allows users to talk for about 24 hours, while the HTC Desire 700 comes with a Li-Po 2100mAh battery which supports up to 11 hours and 40 minutes of talk time on 3G.

The Motorola Moto G 8FB variant costs $176, while the 16GB variant is at $230. The HTC Desire 700 costs around $355 in amazon.com.
