MTV star Diem Brown recently confirmed that she's battling colon cancer for the first time, after having battled through ovarian cancer twice a couple of years ago.
"The Challenge" star released an exclusive statement to People Magazine where she expressed her determination to win through this latest challenge in her life.
"It's been a dark couple of days but the outpouring of support has been tremendous. It's truly what will keep me fighting," she said.
Brown, 32, collapsed while filming her new reality show and was immediately brought to a hospital to undergo two surgeries.
On August 17, Brown underwent the first procedure to get rid of the tumor that was blocking her colon, but was then subjected to another surgery after doctors saw complications brought about by the first procedure, the Daily Mail reported.
Diem's sister Megan confirmed the news and said, "Doctors found one tumor blocking her colon completely so they had to do emergency surgery that evening to remove the blockage. They were able to remove the mass, but once they were inside they found out there were multiple tumors."
"The second surgery was about two steps back. But hopefully in the next few weeks she'll be well enough to start chemo. She's on a lot of medication but every once and a while you'll see her spirit, the light back in her eyes," Megan added.
Previously, Brown was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the age of 23. Two years later, she was once again diagnosed with the same condition, MTV News noted.
"She's had an unbelievable outpouring of support. People will text me and I'll read her their messages while she's in bed. She's such a fighter. She's tough as nails. This is the third time she's had to deal with this and she's ready for it. It's definitely an uphill battle, but I know if anybody can do it it's her," Megan concluded.
