As it turned out, the performance of Australian rapper Iggy Azalea was not the only surprise the MTV Video Music Awards benefit concert had in store for their audience last August 22. It also included her unexpected, albeit unpleasant, slipping and falling off stage in the midst of her song.
When the incident occurred, Australian rapper Iggy Azalea was so caught up in her performance of the hit song "Fancy" at the Avalon in Los Angeles, reported TV NZ. While rapping, she kept walking backwards, going to the edge of the stage. Unaware that she has already reached it, she took another step, slipped and fell directly onto the dumbfounded audience.
Luckily for the 22-year old rapper, the security personnel present at the charity event were quick on their feet. They rushed in time to catch her and hoist her back on the stage to resume her performance.
According to The Independent, Australian rapper Iggy Azalea continued her singing, seemingly unperturbed by her fall. Once she got back on the platform, she ran towards Charli XCX to sing the remainder of their song.
During the interview following her performance, the singer expressed relief and gratefulness for being unharmed by the accident. According to her, she was so blessed because the fall injured none of her legs.
Despite the embarrassing occurrence, Iggy Azalea stayed cheerful throughout. In fact, as reported by TV NZ, she shared a video of her blooper on Instagram. In the accompanying caption, she stated that it would be a crime not to share the clip to everyone. She even admitted that she laughed.
The female Australian rapper had more performances for the MTV VMA 2014 awards. She was on stage once more at the Forum in Inglewood, California last August 24. Her performance was part of MTV VMA 2014, reported TV NZ.
