The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has gone viral due to celebrities who joined.

The challenge is not just a simple game that only aims for video crazing popularity. According to Rappler, the aim of the game is raise awareness about the disease called Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or more popularly known as ALS.

So it means that the challenge is not only for fun, but for a cause.

Time.com reported that the ALS Association has already raised $79.7 million for curing Lou Gehrig's Disease since July 29 due to the continuous running of Ice Bucket Challenge to encourage people around the world to dump ice over their heads and donate.

Last year, the organization raised just $2.5 million, unlike today, the funds are higher.

The Ice Bucket Challenge began last month, and as time goes by, it becomes viral and quickly becomes internet sensation. Through this simple challenge, it attracted almost 1.7 million contributors.

Political figures like George W. Bush, celebrities like Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, and even fomous personalities like Mark Zuckerberg already took the ALS ICE Bucket challenge. The rest are non-celebrities who were willing to donate and join the activity.

One of the men behind the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is Corey Griffin. However, he died after drowning in a diving accident, according to Express.co.uk.
