Thanks to Nicki Minaj's "Anaconda" video, Miley Cyrus' twerking stunts could become a distant memory.
The singer, who twerked her heart out on Robin Thicke during their performance of "Blurred Lines" at last year's MTV Video Music Awards, admitted that she just doesn't have a bum to compete with Minaj's enhanced "ass-sets."
“With that ass … I ain’t got that ass,” said Cyrus when MTV's Sway Calloway probed her on Minaj's "Anaconda" video beating the record of "Wrecking Ball" with the most views in 24 hours. "I can bring that body, I can bring that wrecking ball, but I can’t bring that ass. Not that Anaconda.”
Despite "Anaconda" breaking records, Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" did win the "Video of the Year" award at this year's VMAs.
With hopes to put twerking far behind her, Cyrus revealed to Calloway and VMA's pre-show host Lucy Hale that her music is shifting gears.
“I’ve retired [from twerking], yeah. I’m making some music right now with The Flaming Lips," announced the former Hannah Montana. "It’s different. It’s a little psychedelic."
Although it seems like Cyrus is still trying to find her place in the industry, her dedication to her craft hasn't changed.
“I live to be in the studio, that’s my favorite part, is bunkering down, working on a record,” she said. “This record might take me five years. I don’t know. I’m just going to work on it until I’m done. It’s not about twerking — it’s about music.”
As far as Minaj... one "skinny bitch" down and a ton more to go.
