At a recent press conference for the film "Tazza 2," Big Bang's T.O.P. said he was nervous wondering how audiences will see him in his new film. Whether or not they like what they see, they will certainly see more of him than ever before. The film has scenes with some nudity and that's something the singer-turned-actor has always been hesitant about.
T.O.P. a.k.a. Choi Seung Hyun is the member of Big Bang. As a band member he has never removed his shirt. Fellow band member Taeyang often removes his shirt when performing and every other band member has on occasion. But T.O.P. has always remained discreetly covered up even after he ventured into acting.
The singer, who was reported to have lost 45 pounds in the 40 days before his debut, has always been self-conscious about revealing his body.
But his latest film "Tazza 2" called for several of the actors to take their clothes off. And that included his character Dae Gil. Both T.O.P. and his co-star Shin Se Kyung had to remove their clothes although it is not known whether the disrobing takes place in the same scene.
T.O.P. described his scene.
"The atmosphere was friendly and unusual," he said. "There are a group of naked men in the scene. We're not used to that so we couldn't look at each other when shooting. The female actors were also naked so we couldn't really look anywhere out of courtesy."
On another day Shin Se Kyung talked to Osen about filming a card scene in only her underwear.
"I was shy and tried to cover myself up when we started filming," she said. "After a few days passed, it got better. At first when the director said, 'cut,' I covered myself with a blanket but later on I found monitoring myself more important so I would run out to the camera first to see how it came out. I got used to it eventually.
When asked how she looked, she could only say she did her best.
At the film's press conference, she said that in her desire to prepare for her nude scene, she forgot to eat.
"I prepared a lot," she said. "What I remember about the scene was that I was hungry at the time and my stomach growled. I wanted to show a whole new image of myself and I got greedy in preparing for the scene."
In the film, T.O.P. plays Dae Gil, a young man with a natural talent for gambling. He loves Mi Na, played by Shin Se Kyung. Things are going well for them until he is set up to take the fall for a deal gone wrong. Together the lovers must flee and plot revenge against the men who betrayed him. That revenge will culminate in one important card game.
The film also stars Kim Yoon Suk, Lee Honey, Yoo Hae Jin and Kwan Do Won. "Tazza 2" is a sequel to the successful 2006 film "Tazza: The High Rollers."
