British crooner Sam Smith's MTV VMAs 2014 debut impressed not only his fans but several stars as well. Kim, Kylie, and Kendall Kardashian were seen standing up and sing along to his heartfelt performance. Even Jennifer Lopez was jamming along to his moving live rendition of "Stay With Me."

He was nominated twice but lost in both categories. Ed Sheeran won for Best Male Video and Fifth Harmony nabbed the Artist To Watch award instead.

Although he didn't win last Sunday, Smith still appeared to have enjoyed the night in the company of Katy Perry, the Kardashian girls, and even Queen Beyonce herself!

Despite telling GQ back in May that he didn't want to meet his idol to preserve her image in his mind, he still uploaded a photo of himself and the Michael Jackson Vanguard awardee on Instagram, captioning the photo, "You're gonna wanna open this..."

He looks relatively composed in the Instagram snap but who knows how he gushed about Beyonce at the time.

He also posted several other pictures of his selfies with other stars like Katy Perry, Iggy Azalea, Miley Cyrus and of course, Kim Kardashian and her sisters.

Sam Smith's MTV VMAs 2014 experience really made an impression on the new celebrity.

He's only starting out with his career but it seems that he's been experiencing a lot of good things from the music industry already.

Kim Kardashian even called him a "friend" when she introduced his debut performance. He returned the favor and captioned his snap with the reality stars, "Love these girls."

He took to Twitter to express his awe of the Video Music Awards, writing, "Many of my dreams came true tonight." He later tweeted again, saying. "What a surreal night."
