A man in Spain was taken to the hospital after 400 gallons of water was dropped on him from a firefighting plane in an attempt at the ice bucket challenge, according to The Telegraph.

The man was Bruno Brokken, a 51-year-old Belgian photographer living in Catalonia, who was reportedly knocked to the ground unconscious after the plane being flown by his friend released the load of water above his head.

Brokken was reportedly transferred to the Josep Trueta Hospital by air ambulance, where his condition was initially described as "critical." Friends have stated that Brokken is expected to make a full recovery after his ice bucket challenge attempt.

"He is awake now and he is improving. He has no serious injury and we expect him to be discharged soon," stated a spokesman for Skydive Empuriabrava, which is where the stunt reportedly took place.

The ice bucket challenge has become the latest Internet fad with people filming themselves having ice-cold water poured over their heads to raise money for motor neuron disease, also known as ALS.

Rolf Kuratle, head of Skydive Empuriabrava, reportedly told Spanish news website The Local that the ice bucket challenge shouldn't have turned out the way it did.

"The pilot flew a firefighting plane, the kind used to put out forest fires, and dumped the load onto his friend. They obviously miscalculated how much water it was," stated Kuratle.
