Which tablet device is the ideal purchase for consumers? We pit the Nexus 7 2 against the Asus MemoPad HD7 to see which is better.
For the design and display, the two tablets come with a 7 inch display, although they operate at different resolutions. The Nexus 7 2 can render a resolution at 1920 x 1080pixels with a pixel density of 323 ppi, while the Asus MemoPad HD 7 has a screen resolution of 1280×800pixels and 216 ppi. The Nexus 7 2 measures 201 x 114.3 x 7.9 mm, and weighs 317 grams, while the Asus MemoPad HD 7 measures at 196.8 x 120.6 x 10.8 mm and weighs 302 grams.
For the hardware and OS, the Nexus 7 2 uses a 1.5 Ghz Snapdragon S4 Pro, while the Asus MemoPad comes with a MediaTek quad core processing unit, clocked at 1.2 GHz. In addition, the Nexus device has a better S4 Pro processing unit.
The Nexus device has 2 GB of RAM, while the Asus tablet has only 1 GB of RAM available. The Nexus tablet comes with a 16 and 32 GB variants for available storage space, while its rival has 8 and 16 GB versions. The only downside for the Nexus in this category is the lack of support for microSD, which the MemoPad offers. Both tablets run on Google’s Android operating system, and both come with support for Android JellyBean.
For camera specs, both tablets share the same specifications for their shooters, with 5 MP attributed to the rear camera, while the front facing lens features 1.2 MP in both cases. The only slight advantage the Nexus camera has over the MemoPad is the fact that its camera is able to shoot video in 1080p.
The Asus MemoPad cost $140, while the Nexus 7 2 costs less than $250 in amazon.com.
