Dimitri Patterson reacts to news of his mysterious absence from the New York Jets. Patterson denies the version set up by the Jets and says that's not what happened.
The Jets has suspended the CB "indefinitely" last Monday after he left the team without informing any of the organization staff. According to General manager John Idzik, Patterson spoke to him and Coach Rex Ryan last Sunday night but he refused to discuss the details of the conversation.
He has suspended for the rest of the preseason after he went missing last Friday night before the preseason game against the Giants without speaking to anyone in the organization.
It was last Sunday that Idzik announced that Patterson went MIA then after a few hours, Patterson communicated with Rosenhaus informing that he will come back to speak with Idzik.
According to Patterson these allegations are false. Patterson said in his statement to ESPN's Josina Anderson "As it relates to my whereabouts and me missing for 48 hours without being seen or heard from me or my representative is completely false. My agent reached out to the Jets organization multiple times several hours prior to Friday night's game. My commitment to the Jets organization and to my teammates has never been an issue and never will be an issue."
Patterson has who signed a one-year, $3 million deal last April but his future with the Jets seems to be uncertain for now.
There were some rumors saying that He went MIA because he was upset with his spot on the team's depth chart. This statement was also denied by him saying "'As it relates to the rumors about my frustration in regards to the depth chart is totally and completely false. In nine years, I have never had control over the depth chart."
Idzik said that for now, the indefinite suspension will be short until they have gathered all the information so that they can provide a well informed decision. Patterson did not join the team during last Monday's practice sessions. Patterson is eligible to return Monday, when the Jets start preparations for their season opener against the Oakland Raiders.
