Joan Rivers news reported that the veteran comedienne is in "stable but critical condition" following complications from a throat surgery on Thursday. The 81-year-old host of "Fashion Police" reportedly even made jokes about dying just hours before the incident during her show in Manhattan.
According to a report from E!Online, the veteran celebrity and "Fashion Police" host stopped breathing during a minor endoscopic procedure at a medical clinic. A source said: "They were putting a scope down her throat to check her vocal cords. She stopped breathing."
Joan Rivers news said an emergency call was made and the comedienne was then rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. Her 46-year-old daughter Melissa Rivers immediately followed and was joined by her 13-year-old son, Cooper, who wanted to be by his grandmother's side.
The source added that the minor endoscopic operation was "not a major surgery", and that Joan Rivers was sedated during the procedure. E!Online reports that the outspoken fashion critic is still in the hospital's Intensive Care Unit.
Joan Rivers news was also reported by Washington Post, saying a rep for the hospital issued a statement: "Her family wants to thank everybody for their outpouring of love and support. We will provide an update on her condition as it becomes available."
Just hours before Joan Rivers emergency news broke, the comedienne reportedly even joked about dying while at her Wednesday night show at the Laurie Beechman Theatre in Manhattan, New York.
A 45-year-old audience member named Shade Rupe narrated the incident to NY Daily News: "She did a joke onstage, she goes, 'I'm 81 - I could go at any moment!'"
The audience member claimed that Joan Rivers even said: "'I could fall over right here and you all could say, 'I was there!'"
After the show, Shade Rupe was even able to ask for a photo with the veteran comedienne , whom he said looked "fantastic" and had an amazing energy and attitude.
"She was so on," the starstruck fan recalled to NY Daily News. "She didn't miss a step, she didn't go ditzy, she didn't forget anything and her timing was amazing. She was perfectly in control from the moment she walked onstage."
E!Online has announced that a New Jersey show slated to feature Joan Rivers has been postponed due to the incident.
