Comedienne Joan Rivers' daughter Melissa Rivers could reportedly face a life-or-death decision on her comatose mother depending on what doctors find, according to the NY Daily News.
Joan Rivers was placed in the coma on Thursday after going into cardiac and respiratory arrest during a routine doctor's visit, according to the publication. Doctors are reportedly unsure how long the ground-breaking comedienne went without breathing and are still trying to find out how her sudden collapse might affect the 81-year-old star.
Melissa Rivers, who is Joan Rivers' only child, was reportedly an "emotional wreck" after flying in from California with her son Cooper to be at her mother's side at The Mount Sinai Hospital.
A close friend told the Daily News that the Emmy Winner "would never want to be a burden on anyone. If she can't recover and live a full and active life, she would rather be gone."
Joan Rivers' health problems reportedly started just 12 hours after she performed an hour of stand-up for a sold-out crowd in Manhattan. There has reportedly been no word as to when Joan Rivers might be brought out of the coma or what the next step of her recovery might be.
The beloved fashion critic has been getting the support of fans and friends from all around the world since news of her health woes surfaced, according to USA Today.
"My mother would be so touched by the tributes and prayers that we have received from around the world. Her condition remains serious but she is receiving the best treatment and care possible. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts as we pray for her recovery," Melissa Rivers said in a statement.
