The Musketeers Season 1 just ended but fans will not have to wait longer as filming for The Musketeers Season 2 is underway. By 2015, they will be able to see the show again. But this time, expect it to be action-packed.
However, the second season will be without one important cast member - Peter Capaldi, who plays the role of Cardinal Richelieu. Capaldi now stars in "Doctor Who". This means that he has to forego all his commitments, including The Musketeers.
The writers who were caught flat-footed of his resignation were not able to give a fitting ending to his character in the season 1 finale. Instead, The Musketeers Season 2 will just tell the viewers that he is dead. This Tom Burke, who plays the role of Athos, told Radio Times. "Their new nemesis will be Rochefort, who's played by Marc Warren."
Warren just joined the cast to be Comte De Rochefort, a "dashing and persuasive aristocrat with a talent for sword fighting and a taste for adventure", reported Radio Times. He told BBC, "I'm delighted to be part of the BBC's stylish and exciting take on the Dumas classic. Once I've overcome my fear of horses I'm sure it'll be a walk in the park."
Jessica Pope, BBC Executive Producer, also said that they are happy to welcome him in the show. "He's a clever and mercurial actor who will bring danger and charm to the role of Rochefort in equal measure."
Luke Pasqualino (D'Artagnan), Tom Burke (Athos), Santiago Cabrera (Aramis), and Howard Charles (Porthos) are back in the The Musketeers Season 2. Other comebackers in this 10-episode drama series are Tamla Kari, Maimie McCoy, Hugo Speer, Ryan Gage, and Alexandra Dowling.
The Musketeers is made by BBC Drama Production, co-produced by BBC WorldWide and BBC America. Adrian Hodges is the creator and the executive producer. Colin Wratten is the producer.
