The latest LA Lakers news update has fans grimacing as the team reportedly invited former Heat forward Michael Beasley to another workout. Meanwhile, three players who have not been picked up yet could offer immediate help to the purple and gold.
Sam Amick of USA Today reported LA Lakers news updates when he said that Michael Beasley was invited to a workout, along with Greg Stiemsma, Bobby Brown, Ben Hansbrough, Dexter Pittman, Daniel Orton, Malcolm Lee and Toney Douglas.
"Beasley remains a tantalizing talent, but he left the Phoenix Suns on unflattering terms in the summer of 2013 and wasn't able redeem himself in his return to the Heat last season," Sam Amick wrote. "Heat coach Erik Spoelstra sang Beasley's praises for much of the regular season but played him in only four of 20 playoff games."
During the Miami Heat's playoff run up until they were defeated by the San Antonio Spurs, Michael Beasley only played 23 total minutes. Reportedly, Lebron James has gone weary of the 6-9 forward's antics.
According to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe: "NBA sources said James was not pleased with Beasley's focus and he lost the confidence of coach Erik Spoelstra shortly into the season ... Beasley is likely to get a one-year deal on the open market and his past year in Miami did little to help his reputation."
In other LA Lakers news, the Fan Sided portion of Sports Illustrated suggested three players who could be of immediate help to the team.
First is Jeff Green of the Boston Celtics who can play the three and the stretch four, but his contract which pays him $9 million going into next season would be a "tough pill to swallow." Second is Timofey Mozgov who "averaged 1.2 blocks in 21.6 minutes per game last season" and "could be attained for the right price."
Finally, there's Derrick Williams of the Sacramento Kings who is cheap and can "inject even more athleticism, something that has been lacking in the past few seasons," the article noted.
