Which smartphone is the ideal purchase for consumers? We pit the Blackberry Z30 against the Nexus 5 to see which is better.
In terms of design and display, the Blackberry Z30 has a Super AMOLED screen at 5 inches and it supports a resolution of 720x1280pixels and 294ppi. It weighs 170 grams and its dimensions are 140.7x72x9.4mm. The Nexus 5 has a 4.95 inchesTrue HD IPS+ display, and it supports a resolution of 1080x1920pixels and 445ppi. It has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection, it measures 137.9×69.2×8.6 mm and it weighs 130 grams.
For hardware and OS, the Blackberry Z30 has dual core 1.7GHz Krait CPU and It is partnered with the Qualcomm MSM8960T Pro Snapdragon chipset. This smartphone is using Adreno 320 GPU, has 2GB of RAM and internal storage with the capacity of 16GB, but users are allowed to expand it up to 64GB. It runs on the BlackBerry 10.2 OS, but in between it received the 10.2.1 update.
The Nexus 5 has a powerful 2.3GHz quad core Krait 400 processor, backed by a Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset and it uses an Adreno 330 GPU. It has two variants of internal storage, 16 and 32GB, which can’t be expanded, and the RAM capacity is 2GB. It runs on the Android 4.4 (KitKat), and now it runs on v4.4.4 (KitKat).
For the battery and camera specs, the Blackberry Z30 has a Li-Ion battery and has a capacity of 2880mAh. It delivers up to 18 hours of talktime on 3G and on 2G up to 25 hours.
The Nexus 5 has a non removable Li-Po battery with an average capacity of 2300mAh and last 17 hours.
The Blackberry Z30 has an 8MP camera on the back with a maximum resolution of 3264x2448pixels, autofocus, LED flash, face detection, geo tagging, HDR and image stabilization and video recording capabilities at 1080p@30fps. There is also a 2MP camera on the front which records at 720p@30fps.
The Nexus 5 has also a rear camera at 8MP, with 3264x2448pixels, autofocus, LED flash, geo tagging, face detection, HDR, touch focus, but it has in addition optical image stabilization and photo sphere. The secondary camera is 1.3MP.
The Blackberry Z30 cost $384 in amazon.com, while the Nexus 5 16GB variant costs $383 dollars and the 32GB variant is priced at $480.
