Rajon Rondo and the Boston Celtics are now on the ropes! The only question left is to which team will the Celtics trade the star point guard?

Sources say that Rondo is not exactly demanding a trade, his situation is similar to Kevin Love.

NBC Sports makes the analysis:

"Now, it appears as though Rajon Rondo will be putting the Celtics in a similar situation.

Love informed Minnesota that he would not re-sign there at the conclusion of the upcoming season, and would be leaving once he became an unrestricted free agent next summer. That piece of information allowed the Timberwolves to work on getting something in return for Love, and when all was said and done, they got a pretty amazing haul for him under the circumstances."

Rondo, reportedly, has told the same thing to the Celtics.

From NBC Sports again: "Jackie MacMullan of ESPN said Rondo 'has told them he wants out,' appearing on an Around the Horn behind the scenes video that was posted earlier this week. MacMullan also said that Rondo has told the Kings he wouldn't re-sign there, either, with Sacramento having registered previous interest in acquiring Rondo in trade."

According to NBAhoopsworld, there are at least three teams that would be considered as aggressive 'Rondo chasers.' Just like Kevin Love, Rondo has some leverage of his own because he is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. Teams would likely pull out their offer if Rondo declares that he won't sign a long-term contract with them."

The LA Lakers are exploring all their options of trading for a star point guard, say, Eric Bledsoe. but they are currently short of assets, unless they give up either Steve Nash or Jeremy Lin, plus Julius Randle. The Celtics, on the other hand, has a fall back in Marcus Smart. Houston may put together assets but Rondo's interest is low.
