The Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross wedding officially makes the "Pieces of Me" singer Diana Ross's daughter-in-law. The big day went by almost undetected, over Labor Day weekend.
An Instagram post from Ashlee's father Joe confirmed, though reports claimed it happened either on a Saturday or Sunday. Diana Ross officiated over the wedding of her son and her now daughter-in-law.
Bohemian was the theme of Sunday's wedding, following through on Ashlee's Bohemian bridal shower at sister Jessica Simpson's home in Los Angeles, earlier this month. An engagement party also happened at their mom Tina's home last March.
First signs of an Ashlee and Evan hookup came as early as July last year, when they were spotted holding hands as they came out of L.A.'s Sunset Marquis Hotel. They got engaged this January, six months after their relationship became public.
The Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross wedding happened within a week of Evan's 26th birthday celebration, where a source confirmed the couple was practically beaming. "They were excited and talking about the upcoming wedding. Evan and Ashlee were kissing each other nonstop all night." (people.com)
Evan commented on having kids, saying he prefers a big family. "It's up to Ashlee, but I want to have a lot of kids. I grew up with...10 siblings."
They tied the knot at Diana Ross's home in Greenwich, Connecticut, with friends and family as witness. Sister Jessica Simpson was present; she also tied the knot with Eric Johnson weeks beforehand.
There was a delay in the ceremony due to a brief spell of rain, but the wedding was straight out of the fairy tales with the theme and the fanfare. Donald Faison of TV's "Scrubs" participated in the ceremony and attended with wife CaCee Cobb (eonline.com).
Sister Jessica was maid-of-honor, her daughter and son Maxwell and Ace served as flower girl and ring bearer. Ashlee's son Bronx, 5, escorted her as she walked the aisle. The "Pieces of Me" singer was wed to rocker Peter Wentz, but they separated in good terms a year before Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross's wedding.
