Windows 9 Threshold Preview Almost Here Sept. 30, Q2 2015 Launch; New UI Changes, No Charms Bar, Mini Start Menu, Cortana On Desktop. New reports say that Windows 9 could release earlier than expected with more updates. A release date for the much anticipated OS is also available. Details reveal the development team at Redmond plan to flush out at least two updates in a month. The next update is slated to be ‘Windows Technology Preview beta.’
The Verge reported, the Seattle, Washington-based tech giant could release a preview of Windows 9 as early as September 30.However, the release date is just a projection and the actual date of launch is yet to be determined. Some sources indicate a release of the new OS dubbed Threshold will happen during April 2015.
“Developers will be able to get a first look at the new UI changes, including the new mini Start menu, the removal of the Charms bar, and even a desktop version of Cortana, Microsoft’s intelligent personal assistant on Windows Phone 8.1,’ according to the Epoch Times.
Undoubtedly, Windows 9 release date pushed forward to next year has vexed vendors, but it is also expected to bring welcome changes with respect to features and design in comparison to its predecessor Windows 8, which launched two years ago.
Windows 9 points to improvements in September as Microsoft seeks to fix Windows 8 troubles with Windows 9. Recently, update 8.1 was recalled after the ‘blue screen of death’ popped up on several PCs running on Windows 9. Additionally, Microsoft may be making attempts to correct the mediocre performance of its operating systems all the way from Windows Vista Windows 8. In other words, preventing a repeat of the 'Windows Vista' quagmire means lightening up the new OS. This would make PCs operate faster.
Some new features on Windows 9 include these functions:
Desktop Mini Start Menu
Apps are “Windowed” Metro-style
Virtual desktops
Cortana (Virtual Assistant) integration
Charm bar removed
