Over the weekend, several Jennifer Lawrence photos spread like wildfire online. But these photos were not of the good kind.

Several female celebrities like JLaw, Kate Upton, Lea Michele, Hillary Duff, Kaley Cuoco, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez and Kate Bosworth fell victim to another unfortunate hacking incident. Several private and naked pictures of the stars mentioned were allegedly leaked online.

The recent incident has been dubbed as one of the biggest celebrity hacking scandals of recent times.

Authorities are now on the lookout for the alleged perpetrator. And as of writing, it seems that one of the people behind the cybercrime has fessed up about his involvement.

A person who hides behind the alias "Original Guy" has took the blame for the leaked photos, but has denied rumors that he is a hacker.

"When you consider how much time was put into acquiring this stuff - I'm not the hacker, just the collector - and the money - I paid a lot via bitcoin - I really didn't get close to what I was hoping," says Original Guy in a "deep web" forum.

"Deep-web" is a term used to refer to the unmonitored, secret and dark part of the internet. It could be considered as the World Wide Web black market where common search engines can't access.

Original Guy confessed that he has only made an unimpressive $120 off the photos he disseminated. He further explained that he was getting concerned about his security since he felt like someone was watching him.

"Someone was tracking me, trying to find me," he said. "ISP kept cutting out. Weird emails coming in. Kinda freaked me out and I had to leave for a couple hours."

How did he get the leaked Jennifer Lawrence photos? Simple, by accessing the actress' and the others' Apple iCloud accounts.

This new development puts the tech innovation giant and its back-up system on the spotlight. What was supposed to be a secure and remote structure is not so safe after all.

As Sydney Morning Herald puts it, "As the story unfolds, it is likely Apple's security procedures will come under heavy scrutiny, particularly in light of the claim that deleted images were still accessible via the iCloud."

"Apple has not yet commented on the story."

423 private celebrity and Jennifer Lawrence photos have reportedly been leaked, but there is a possibility that more photos were obtained from their iCloud accounts.
