Which smartphone is worth the purchase? We pit the Motorola Moto G against the Nokia XL to see which device is better.

For design and display, the Nokia XL has a 5 inches IPS LCD display that supports a resolution of 480x800pixels and 187ppi. The Motorola Moto G has a smaller display measuring 4.5 inches (IPS LCD) and a resolution of 720x1280pixels which gives a pixel density of 326ppi. In addition, the smartphone comes with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top of its screen for protection against scratches and has a matte back panel which is available in 6 colors.

In terms of hardware and OS, the Nokia XL has a 1GHz dual core Cortex A5 processor supported by a Qualcomm MSM8225 Snapdragon S4 Play chipset and uses an Adreno 203 GPU. It runs on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) OS with 768MB and hosts an internal memory of 4GB, but users allowed it to add a microSD card for expansion up to 32GB.

The Motorola Moto G has a quad core 1.2GHz Cortex A7 processor, which is backed by a Qualcomm MSM8226 Snapdragon 400 chipset and it uses a later Adreno 305 GPU. The RAM capacity matters a lot, helping the processor be more efficient, especially if in the case of the Moto G is higher, at 1GB, but users will have to settle with one of the fixed internal memories of 8 or 16GB. The smartphone comes initially with Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) OS, but in the meantime it received the 4.4.4 (KitKat) update.

For battery and camera specs, both smartphones have batteries with almost the same capacity. However, the Li-Ion 2000mAh battery of the Nokia XL allows users to talk 13 hours on 3G, while with the non-removable Li-Ion 2070mAh battery of the Moto G last for 24 hours.

Both smartphones have rear cameras of 5MP with autofocus and LED flash, but the only mutual features are panorama and face detection. The Motorola device has in addition geo tagging, touch focus and HDR. The Nokia device sports a 2MP front camera, while the Motorola smartphone has a 1.2MP front camera.

The Nokia XL costs around $145 , while the Motorola Moto G 8GB cost $173 and the 16GB variant costs $197.
