The Brittany Murphy biopic has released previews of the upcoming Lifetime special, and the late actress' father said he is "disgusted and outraged" at the unauthorized TV drama to be aired this September.
In an interview with the Examiner, Brittany Murphy's father Angelo Bertolotti said: "I am disgusted and outraged that Lifetime decided to produce such a trashy project, defiling the memory of my beautiful, talented daughter, Brittany Murphy."
The distraught father questioned the accuracy of the Brittany Murphy biopic, given that their family did not work with the network regarding anything in the story. "Frankly, I am amazed at their audacity of calling it 'a true story' without conducting any research," he pointed out.
"The Brittany Murphy Story is an affront to everything my daughter was in real life. It's hideous, unauthorized and completely untrue," Angelo Bertolotti added.
The Brittany Murphy biopic will document the story of the actress, who rose to fame after starring in the 90s teen classic "Clueless" alongside Alicia Silverstone and Stacey Dash.
A trailer showed clips of the dreamy-eyed star celebrating her success in Hollywood. However, the latter part of the teaser showed a troubled Brittany Murphy, with visuals of drugs, depression, and paranoia.
Other preview showed what Angelo Bertolotti called "despicable", such as claims that he abandoned his daughter while she was only two years old.
Examiner reported that Brittany Murphy's father also blasted Lifetime's "atrocious" casting.
"Amanda Fuller, the girl playing Brittany, looks absolutely nothing like her. Everyone looks ridiculous in their bad wigs and the dialogue is nauseating," he scoffed.
Following the announcement of the Brittany Murphy biopic, allegations have resurfaced linking the late actress' parents to the death.
According to another report by In Touch magazine, Brittany Murphy's father has suggested that his ex-wife, Sharon Murphy, killed their own daughter.
"Sharon Murphy should be interviewed and investigated, first and foremost," he responded after being asked about the investigations of Brittany Murphy death news and her husband, Simon Monjack.
When Angelo Bertolotti was asked if he suspects Sharon Murphy of being involved in the untimely deaths of Brittany and Simon, he responded: "Yes, I do."
Sharon Murphy has denied all allegations in a report from The Hollywood Reporter: "I have chosen to stay out of the limelight since the tragic and sudden death of my wonderful, talented, loving daughter."
The 61-year-old mother said: "I have no choice now but to come forward in the face of inexcusable efforts to smear my daughter's memory by a man who may be her biological father, but was never a real father to her in her lifetime."
