It looks like Undead Labs buckled under the pressure of clamoring Xbox One owners, recently confirming a State of Decay Xbox One release date for Spring 2015.
Remastered ports for new, next-generation consoles is a running trend, especially if developers get enough support from console fans. Earlier, it was announced that The Last of Us is being remastered and released from the PlayStation 3 into PlayStation 4, to the appreciation of clamoring fans.
State of Decay will be overhauled into 1080p for the port, though, which is a tough task. Considering the pain it took developers to practically rework The Last of Us, then it'll likely be the same for the Xbox One title.
Developer Undead Labs was candid on their plans for the game. Founder Jeff Strain: "We wanted to address some of the animations, generally do a lot of polish on that, and just generally improve on the environment textures."
"We're also taking some of the base management features from the Lifeline DLC and integrating that into the core game, and also taking some of the heroes and characters that were introduced and allowing them to be playable characters from Lifeline and Breakdown as well. And we're going to be bundling Lifeline and Breakdown as well. So this will be the definitive edition of State of Decay." (gamespot.com)
Strain didn't address expectations for a co-op multiplayer mode, but hyped gamers by ensuring the Year One Survival port will be the definitive version of the game, with all the DLCs included.
"This is the first next-gen step for the State of Decay franchise. Obviously we have big plans for this franchise going forward into the future, and getting it here gets us to the baseline we need to be to start pursuing that."
Promotional footage has also released well ahead of the State of Decay's Xbox One release date, with remastered screen caps previewed:
