"The Vampire Diaries" is slated for release this coming October 2 and the show, which is currently on its sixth season will see some of the biggest changes and plot twists to date.
"TVD's" first episode will be called "I'll Remember" and it will take off from season 5's last episode that saw the death of Damon
Damon, played by actor Ian Somerhalder is just one of the two characters who died last season. Elena's friend, Bonnie, also passed away around the same time, according to the Christian Post.
Meanwhile, other spoilers previously claimed that Stefan and Caroline will become this season's newest odd couple.
Last season, there were hints on the possibility of an actual romance between the two but "The Vampire Diaries" executive producer Caroline Dries said that such a relationship is highly unlikely, IBTimes reported.
"She's going to realize it's a little more one-sided than she was hoping, and there's going to be some fallout from that," Driest told TV Line.
This means that although Caroline may have feelings for Stefan, the latter will not be able to reciprocate it. The reason could be Elena, played by actress Nina Dobrev, who has always been Stefan's first love.
Dries added, "But just because one character doesn't like another character, that doesn't mean it's not a fascinating love story."
Caroline's love life will also off great focus this coming season. Elena will be setting up Caroline with her new pre-med friend Liam, played by newbie Marco James, the same publication noted.
Throughout the season, Bonnie and Damon's whereabouts will be revealed to fans of the series. At several times during the season, Bonnie and Damon will get into each other's nerves but this does not necessarily mean they would be linked romantically.
Meanwhile, Tyler will have a second chance at his humanity and Matt will finally be able to live freely in Mystic Falls - or so he thinks.
