Nicki Minaj's backup dancer has finally opened up after she was bitten by a snake during a rehearsal of "Anaconda."
The 25-year-old dancer recently sat down with MTV News where she divulged details about the recent incident.
Ruidiaz confirmed that although she has already performed at the VMAs, AMAs and Kid's Choice Awards several times, it was her first time to perform with a snake.
"This was definitely my first time, but I thought when are you ever going to have this experience? When are you ever going to have a snake wrapped around you, while doing some of your contortion moves? I was really hoping the snake didn't think this was a competition to see who can bend the most," she said.
The dancer and contortionist who has performed with the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Diddy revealed that she auditioned for the part and was informed beforehand that she will most likely be performing with an actual snake.
"They had auditions for contortions and said, 'Most likely you ladies will be holding a snake while you do this, do any of you have any issues?' In my head, I was thinking, 'Oh yeah, I have major issues' but I kept my mouth shut."
Ruidiaz revealed that she actually had a pleasant relationship with the snake whose name was Rocky. However, on Friday, the day before her actual performance, that was when the bite happened, Bustle reported.
"The trainers told me the only reason a snake would attack, is if they felt like they were at harm, so I tried to readjust to make sure that he felt safe on me. But right when I did one trick, I guess he must've felt I wasn't holding on to him, so he went ahead and took a nice little bite out of my left arm."
When asked whether or not the bite hurt, Ruidiaz dished, "To be honest, it really didn't hurt at all. It literally felt like getting a shot, but imagine 40 needles sticking you at once and then leaving."
