"Grey's Anatomy" creator Shonda Rhimes recently dished on the series' most influential love story and several other exciting spoilers for the upcoming season.
Contrary to what most fans might think, Rhimes was referring to the unconditional love affair between Meredith Grey, played by actress Ellen Pompeo and her person, Christina Yang, played by Sandra Oh, according to TV Line.
Yang's character officially bid the series goodbye last May, which means season 11 will no longer include Grey's best friend. This also means great changes in the life of the doctor who will be faced with problems when it comes to her marriage with Dr. McDreamy.
In a previous interview with the publication, Rhimes teased on the possibility of the Meredith and Derek breaking up this season.
"I'm not going to say that Meredith and Derek are never going to break up. I'm not going to say that simply because we're writing a story and we're on this long, long journey. I've learned never to say absolutes about anything anymore. People always say, 'Seven seasons ago you said... 'Well, I didn't think we'd still be here.'"
Still talking about Meredith and Derek's marriage, Rhimes dished, "I was not interested in telling the story of a really good marriage that breaks up because of this. There's work involved in keeping an amazing marriage amazing, and I would personally like to watch what happens when they try to fight through it."
Meanwhile, a new guest star this season 11 has been revealed. Actress Annet Mahendru will be joining the cast as one of the doctors at the hospital.
The actress herself confirmed the news via Twitter and wrote, "had fun @GreysABC today," IBTimes reported.
TVLine later on confirmed that Mahendru will indeed be joinng the cast as a recurring guest star but her actual role has not yet been revealed.
Mahendru previously appeared on other series including "2 Broke Girls," "White Collar," "The Blacklist" and more.
"Grey's Anatomy" season 11 will return this coming September 25 on ABC.
