Miami Heat is currently inquiring about Andray Blatche, Gilas Pilipinas naturalized player, after putting on a great show at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2014, says report.
Moving slightly ahead of Chicago Bulls' Pau Gasol, Blatche is standing pretty well at the third spot of FIBA players' statistics with 22.0 PPG, next to Luis Scola and Jose Barea at .8 and .5 difference respectively. Blatche made a total of 88 PTS as of writing, whilst proving his stamina at 33.8 MPG.
Barry Jackson penned a report on Tuesday saying:" The Heat, looking to add another veteran backup center, summoned 6-11 Nazr Mohammed for a workout and meeting with team executives on Thursday."
To soften the blow of LeBron James' departure, Miami Heat are now preparing for the next season with Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade on the roster, along with Danny Granger, Shannon Brown, Luol Deng, and Josh McRoberts.
While top choices include Emeka Okafor and Nazr Mohammed, Jackson went on with:
"The Heat also has inquired about 6-11 free agent center Andray Blatche, who has a home here,"
Andray Blatche last played for the Brooklyn Nets of the NBA averaging 18.1 points and 8.8 rebounds. January 2014, Blatche was asked by the Smart Gilas Pilipinas to join the team as a naturalized player for FIBA.
Team Philippines was recently dropped out of further contention after a 77-73 loss to Puerto Rico, but this critical game highlighted Blatche's shooting skills from the inside and even beyond the arc. And now that the team has bagged its first ever win after 40 years (against Senegal), Blatche could be on the rise with his stunning performance along with Junmar Fajardo and Jimmy Alapag of Gilas Pilipinas.
Is Andray Blatche the next backup bigman of Miami Heat? Watch out for more updates.
