Scott Moffat teased fans to some "devastating" new plans for 'Sherlock' season 4 after receiving the Emmy awards for the show's third season.
"We have a plan to top season 3, and our plan is so devastating that our cast was reduced to tears," Moffat previously told Deadline after the show's rousing win at the Emmy Awards last Monday. "Mark (Gatiss) and I are excited about what we have coming up."
This time, actor Martin Freeman, who plays Dr. Watson in the modern retelling of Arthur Conan Doyle's classic novel series, shared some of Moffat and Mark Gatiss' plans for next season.
Freeman, too, is looking forward for 'Sherlock' season 4, even with his and Benedict Cumberbatch's very busy schedules for the next couple of years.
'It's going to be full of surprises for you, and for us and for everybody. I think we just know to expect the unexpected now,' Metro reported the 'Hobbit' star as saying.
He went on to tease fans more, saying, "What has been explained to me and Ben [Cumberbatch] and Amanda Abbington - my missus who plays Mary - has been very exciting."
Last season, Mary was revealed to be a former assassin, therefore, becoming a possible ally for Sherlock in facing Moriarty again.
'Honestly, Mark [Gatiss] and myself are so excited with what we've got coming up, probably more excited than we've ever been about Sherlock,' added the 'Fargo' star. In fact, showrunner Steven Moffat already told the press that he and Gatiss have become "a couple of fanboys" for the new season.
With Moriarty coming back and a possible appearance of the third Holmes brother, fans are certainly anticipating a more thrilling fourth season.
Although scheduling the show's filming might be harder than normal and "quite tricky" due to its main characters being world stars themselves, Moffat promised to "keep making 'Sherlock' as long as it's a good show."
What do you think will happen in 'Sherlock' season 4? How will Moriarty play out his games this time?
